An absolutely massive alkaline glazed floor vase, with a striking runny ash glaze that reminds me of North Carolina pottery, though my strong suspicion is that this is a German piece, given that they produced much of the mid-century Brutalist and fat lava pottery found from the second half of the 20th century. I can't find any markings; there's a brown Albany type glaze on the base, which feels oddly American, but I'm clueless. A great statement piece nonetheless, and a fine umbrella cum cane holder (we gettin' old y'all) as well. A bit of a mystery, but a darn impressive one!
