Kayserzinn Hugo Leven Monumental Stag Horn Trophy Vase no. 4500 1900 Art Nouveau Pewter 14.5 Inches

$489.95

A fine example of revolutionary designer Hugo Leven's work for Kayserzinn, the premier maker of Art Nouveau Pewter during the Jugendstil movement, circa 1900. This trophy vase, number 4500, is included the form of a three-handled loving cup, with stag skulls and antlers comprising the decoration and handles, all in the soft, sinuous form that Leven, greatly influencedby Archibald Knox, pioneered in late 19th centuryGermany. Unpolished, as is the preference in the US, but lead-free Kayserzinn pewter was specially formulated to take a high polish (the European preference) if desired. That should only be done by a professional though! There's a secondary stamp outside the lozenge that says G 47...? It could be any inspectors mark, I'm not sure. No bends, pewter corrosion or other issues, and priced well below the usual auction comps on this model; I bought it the heady days of Arys and Crafts metalware collecting on eBay, decades ago, so I'm taking a bath in this one, folks! Free shipping lower 48 only, otherwise contact me to make arrangements. Also, it's clean, without any pesky inscription.
