JD Craven Salt-glazed Stoneware Pitcher Signed 19th Century North Carolina Pottery with Glass Run

A rare J.D. Craven signed salt-glazed pitcher, c. 1800s, which is, alas, missing its handle (and a couple of hundred bucks, at least, price-wise, as a consequence). Three incised lines around the neck and a black glass kiln dripping add to its charm. While there are a lot of signed Craven jugs, crocks and creamers around, signed pitchers are relatively scarce, making even one absent the handle a worthy addition to any North Carolina pottery collection. There's a chip in the base that's nearly as old as the piece; great overall condition, with the obvious exception of that handle. Two-toned, as pictured, with a warm brown and gray coloration scheme overall. Handle break was sanded down at some point, so it presents well. It's 10.5 inches tall and seven across, roughly, and appears to be a one-gallon pitcher.
