Maine Landscape in Oil, "June Morning at Pretty Marsh," Mt. Desert Island 1984, by notable artist Joellyn T. Duesberry (1944-2016).

A jewel of a painting by Joelynn Duesberry, a well-known landscape artist with paintings in the Met permanent collection and elsewhere, titled "The Causeway at Pretty Marsh, June Morning, 1984." Further identified as being on Mt. Desert Island, Maine, and part of a series of 1984 paintings of Pretty Marsh by Duesberry that summer. (I've found several other examples, including a 30-inch landscape, so this may have been a study in preparation for a larger work.) Inscribed and gifted in 1986. Duesberry is a highly acclaimed self-taught plain air landscape artist, recognized for her Maine scenes, as well as her Southwestern landscapes.
