Silvertone 12 String Guitar Model 666 Sunburst by Harmony 1967-68 First Production Lead Belly Kurt Cobain No. 5505666

$399.95

A classic Silvertone 12-string acoustic guitar in the Sunburst pattern. Manufactured by Harmony in Chicago, marketed under the Silvertone label for Sears, marked 5505666 on the inside and numbered on the back. (The inside stamp is very faint; I think I have the 5s right.) This is the same guitar that Kurt Cobain and Lead Belly played (Harmony provided several brands with the same guitar, made in its Chicago factory), and it has a deep resonant sound beloved by guitarists for decades. The body is birch, with a spruce neck with an ebonized finish. Two of the eyelets that anchor the top two strings are missing; I thought about having them replaced, but figured the next owner might want to reconfigure it to their own needs, so left as is. Neck is straight and rock solid; absolutely no cracks or other issues; frets are fine; a couple of fleabite chips to the edges but entirely cosmetic and "barely there" in terms of appearance. One of the most coveted acoustic 12-string guitars out there, and comes with its original chipboard case. A little dusty, but that's about it....
