A gorgeous hand-carved bluebird emerging from a nest hole, by Chapel Hill, NC, artist Don Reardon. Signed on the base, not dated. The Bluebird is set in a raw birch limb, which is ten inches tall. Protrudes about two and a half inches, and the same across. Reardon is a well-known carver and artist focusing on the natural world, and birds in particular. A very unusual (and cute!) example; first bird-in-nest hole I've ever found...
