A lifelike hand-carved black-capped chickadee, perched vertically on a log (in a nice touch). Signed L. Wilder, not dated, and likely originated from North Carolina (strong traditions in the Southern Highlands and Piedmont both). Found in NWNC. Very nicely done, particularly in how the bird is arched in its vertical perch on the log. Bird is life-sized, approximately four inches; entire sculpture is five inches tall by circa four across and deep.
