A very early cantilevered steel tube chair, 1940s, in chrome and black leather. As ubiquitous as they are, it's easy to forget that this form was barely a decade old when this was likely made, and the style so revolutionary and iconic that people still argue about who created it. The nail work is similar to a 1949 stool I have, so I'm thinking mid to late 40s, immediately postwar. It could be earlier, which would make it truly important, but it's not labeled. Plenty of expected wear but in really good shape with good chrome.
