A fine, large salt-glazed stoneware pitcher with cobalt highlights and a beautifully placed favrile style glass blob, late 19th or early 20th Century, 10 inches in height. Very minor wear from usage (rubbing along the handle) and a couple of nearly indiscernible flakes to the lower rim; essentially mint. While the glass decoration may be a kiln dripping, it seems too artfully placed and the glass too iridescent and colorful to be an accident. Possibly J.B. Owen, who was known to use cobalt highlights, but unmarked. (It's not Hilton; they used a glass glaze, as with the other piece pictured.) An exceptional and early central Piedmont pitcher, and to find salt-glazed stoneware with cobalt highlights outside of Hilton blue-edge ware is uncommon.
