A wood-fired vessel with heavy geometric and blanket decoration, original, 5” height and 7” diameter. Interior is decorated with red ocher. Described as a Gila bowl, Salado culture, circa 1300-1450. On the bottom is a kill hole, meant to pay respect for the dead and render a bowl unusable and for the benefit of use in the afterlife only. Some wear on interior from use, in keeping with expected utilization, and some chips on outer rim, otherwise appears complete and all original. Original sales ticket with description and provenance information (via a prominent North Carolina estate collection) included. Free shipping to lower 48 (and U.S. only duh); otherwise, shipping costs must be calculated and paid beforehand, so please contact me if outside of free zone beforehand (or not, but note that it won't ship until shipping is paid).
