A seriously old Southern foot stool, found in western North Carolina. Early 19th century or older, hand-cut dovetail construction and lovely scalloped legs and graduated form. 15 inches square and 11 tall, give or take. One leg bracket replaced; feet have been reinforced and have minor repairs; looks like it's been shortened by roughly half an inch (half a dovetail or so). Top is a replacement and could use another layer of batting to firm it up, but I left it as is in case someone wants to replace it with period appropriate fabric, and it looks good. Trim may be replaced, but I think it's original, given its consistency and use around the bracket feet. Maple? Pine? Walnut details? Not certain and not swearing...
