A lovely wooden gear, used as a pattern for the production of steel gears at the mill for which it is labeled, "Oley Street Mill," presumably from Reading, Pennslvania. Gear pattern 440 and 440a, with all kinds of cool notes (e.g., "loose tooth") and dimensions and more written on the back and between gear teeth. A gorgeous architectural piece that will mesh with any decor, from an historic steel mill, dating to the late 1800s. Ten inches across, about six deep with the knob (and add-on to the actual gear I think).
